How to Install WordPress using Tar Gz File

Here are the steps to download and install WordPress using Tar Gz file:

Step 1: Download the Tar Gz file

Visit the official WordPress website (https://wordpress.org/download/), and click on the “Download WordPress” button. This will download the latest WordPress version ZIP file. Once downloaded, extract the contents into your desired location on your computer. This extracted folder will now contain the WordPress files in the Tar Gz format.

Step 2: Move the Tar Gz file to the server

Upload the extracted WordPress Tar Gz file to your webserver’s root directory using an FTP client or File Manager on your cPanel. You can also use the command “scp path/to/wordpress.tar.gz user@yourserver:/var/www/” to copy the file to the server if you have SSH access.

Step 3: Extract the Tar Gz file

Once you have uploaded the file to the server, log in to your webserver using SSH or access the server using the terminal in cPanel. Navigate to your WordPress extracted folder location using the command “cd /path/to/WordPress”, then extract the Tar Gz file using the command “tar -zxvf wordpress.tar.gz”. This will extract all the WordPress files into the current folder.

Step 4: Set up the WordPress database

Before proceeding with the WordPress installation, you need to create a MySQL database and database user. Use cPanel or any other database management tool to set up the database, then note down the database name, username, password, and host details.

Step 5: Install WordPress

Open a web browser and navigate to your WordPress folder by entering your domain name. You should see the WordPress installation screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process. Enter the database details you noted down in the previous step, create an administrator account, and set up the website information.
